Matcha Yogurt Bowl


I've been trying to eat healthier "again" and stay away from eating out as much as I can. I've been doing great, except with my milk tea addiction. I've been wanting to make desserts, but with my busy schedule, it is nearly impossible. I opened my pantry and found a can of matcha green tea powder I purchased when I was in Japan, and I've only used it to make hot tea. If you've been on my blog last year, I posted a Meal Prep Snack Guide that included a yogurt parfait. Well, I still love making them until now.

This bowl is very easy to make especially for those who are busy and always on-the-go. Yogurt bowls are already healthy as it is (protein and fiber) if packed with the right ingredients, but adding green tea makes it even better. I've been hooked with green tea everything ever since I came back from Japan. I've also learned that it is considered a "superfood" that stores a wealth of antioxidants and cancer-fighting properties.









INGREDIENTS:


  • Vanilla greek yogurt
  • Matcha powder green tea
  • Heavenly Organics organic raw white honey
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Banana
  • Chia seeds
  • Almonds
  • Granola (my favorite is the brand Love Crunch)
  • Shredded coconut

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Mix the matcha powder with yogurt in a mixing bowl and stir to combine well. Since I'm using a flavored greek yogurt, there's no need to add honey in this process. 
  • Place the mixture into a bowl. Freeze the mixture while preparing the toppings.
  • You can get creative at this point. I decided to do a strawberry-banana and berry yogurt bowl. Add the rest of the toppings and add more based on your liking. Top it off with your favorite raw honey or agave nectar.

Tip: If you're using a plain greek yogurt, be careful with the amount of matcha, it can get a little too strong. Start with one teaspoon, and gradually add more depending on your taste.
